Climate stripes were developed in 2018 at the University of Reading by Professor Ed Hawkins. They provide a simple, powerful visual representation of planetary heating over the years. They show compelling evidence of a warming planet with each stripe representing the average temperature for a year compared to the average over a period of time. Shades of blue represent cooler than average temperatures whilst shades of red show hotter than average temperatures.
The showyourstripes.info website shows the stripes for over 200 countries, cities and areas. The graphic here shows the warming stripes representing Brent between 1884-2023. Further information regarding Brent’s policies on the climate emergency can be found at https://carboncopy.eco/local-climate-action/brent. Look at the Net Zero Tracker, which estimates that the gap between intention and action on Brent's carbon reduction targets is 310 years! In other words, at the rate of progress indicated by the available data, Brent won't achieve its 2030 target until 2340. On this data also, Brent is rated 360th out of 374 UK Councils for carbon reduction. The data is that supplied by the government up to 2021, so hopefully Brent will have improved in recent years. The Friends of the Earth Near You Tool gives a more positive picture, but there is still clearly a long way to go.
