Eco Hustings
Brent Central candidates under the spotlight
Candidates' introduction
Longer report, more videos, photos and FoE's Election 2010 campaign...
Our public meeting on 29th April in Willesden was a great success. Over eighty people attended, and all four candidates showed up, despite the event clashing with the TV leaders’ debate. Green candidate, Shahrar Ali, Labour’s Dawn Butler, Conservative Sachin Rajput and Liberal Democrat Sarah Teather were in the spotlight to see just whose policies are the greenest when it comes to the environment. Camden’s Eco Champion and 10:10 Councils’ Co-ordinator, Alexis Rowell, chaired the lively meeting at Learie Constantine West Indian Association, in Willesden.
Despite speakers’ other commitments cutting the meeting short, a wide range of local and national issues were covered. These included the Brent Cross development, Heathrow's third runway, carbon emissions targets and investment in green jobs, support for cyclists and the parties' positions on nuclear and energy policy.
