Digital Communications Officer (Volunteer)

Level: Entry Level

Location: Home-based

Preferred time commitment: Flexible (1-2 days a month on average)

Background to the role

We are looking for a creative, motivated, enthusiastic individual who is eager to gain experience working with a local organisation with strong connections to one of the UK’s leading environmental campaigning organisations. We are currently a small group of active members, hoping to increase in size. We have plans to ramp up our online presence, including the website and multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter), with the aim of expanding our network and reach and increasing group membership.

During your volunteering you could spend your time being involved in:

Developing an online communications and social media strategy

Developing and updating social media platforms, including sourcing and creating content.

Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of our digital activity

Liaising with the Press Officer and other members to write copy for the website and social media

Helping to create and develop our campaigns and online presence

The skills and experience we are looking for

An interest in environmental issues

Motivation and enthusiasm for working in a digital communications role

Competent using social media platforms

Strong communication skills, particularly the ability to articulate clearly in writing

Confident working independently as well as collaboratively

Community Outreach Officers (Volunteer)

Level: Entry Level

Location: Home-based

Preferred time commitment: Flexible (1-2 days a month on average)

Background to the role

We are looking for an outgoing and enthusiastic individual who is eager to gain experience working with a local organisation with strong connections to one of the UK’s leading environmental campaigning organisations. We are currently a small group of active members, hoping to increase in size. We looking for someone who can help us expand our network across Brent by reaching out to community members, schools, businesses and other groups to raise awareness of environmental issues, share information on our campaigns and increase support and new members.

During your volunteering you could spend your time being involved in:

Visiting businesses, schools and other groups across Brent to share information on environmental issues and Brent FoE campaigns

Work with other members to develop campaign plans and strategies

Planning and preparing community events, including stalls

Liaising with the group Coordinators, Press Officer and other members to develop leaflets and other communications material to raise awareness of our campaigns.

The skills and experience we are looking for

An interest in environmental issues

Confidence to approach and speak to people from varied backgrounds on environmental issues

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Confident working independently as well as collaboratively
